Black Swan takes a skater’s nightmare and brings it to life, with beautiful results.

Info: We were tapped by WindowSeat Pictures to help them complete one episode in this 3 part Film series featuring professional skateboarder Rune Glifberg. Our section of the film would consist of a nightmare dreamworld , a place that would make most skateboarders cringe. We eagerly jumped onto this unique and creative project lending creative direction, design, animation, and compositing.

Working closely with the creatives at Converse Skateboarding, Nick Losq and Chris Clyne created this world based on dazzle camo, a pattern seen on battle ships to confuse submarine radar. This pattern led itself well to creating the sharp, threatening, hard to skate angles that the dream world would require. We edited sequential footage of Rune skating several skateparks and half pipes. Having spent most of his youth skateboarding, Nick created our edit ensuring that the tricks linked up well, and that Rune's moves would translate to this menacing environment. We used proprietary scripts in maya to do all our left-right camera compositing in our 3d render which was a huge time saver.
